5 Plants That Will Survive the Winter in Your Westover Apartment Home

All Plants Really Need is Just a Little TLC!

Buying plants for your apartment home is a great and easy way to soften up your interior decor. While we still have a few months left of the cold season, you may want to consider these 5 plants that will survive the winter and help spruce up (no pun intended) the overall look in your Westover apartment home!

1 – Stand Tall & Grow Strong! – Jade Plant

Jade plants are a type of succulent that can grow up to 5 feet tall over a long period of time. This plant can survive by being watered just once every three weeks. It is also able to keep growing, even when placed by a cold window during the winter.

2 – So Fresh & So Green! – Snake Plant

This type of plant is known to be the EASIEST to take care of and it’s technical name is called the Sansevieria (let’s stick to its nickname). The snake plant requires very little water and sunlight. The one thing that people love about this plant is that it is known to clean the air in your own home! It can’t be more simple than that.

3 – I’m a Succa For You! – Succulents

Succulents come in many shapes and sizes but love to sit on windowsills so they can receive a lot of sunlight! Since these plants like the dry air during the winter time, they need little to no water at at all throughout the chilly months. Once the Spring is near, that is when you can begin watering your succulents again, but still not too often!

4 – Say Aloe to My Little Friend! – Aloe Vera Plant

This hardy succulent can actually store water in its leaves which allows it to go several weeks without being watered! The best way to know if it needs water or not is to see how dry or damp the soil is. Just like the picture, aloe plants love sunlight, so it is best to place them near a window so they can continue growing.

5 – Take It or Leaf It! – Philodendrons

This trendy plant is perfect to keep indoors during the winter, it has a tropical look to it which makes you feel like you are on an island somewhere in paradise (we can dream)! Plus, you only have to water this plant about every two weeks which can come in handy if you live a busy, on-the-go lifestyle.

Now it is time to go buy some plants for your apartment! Visit your local garden center, Home Depot, or Lowe’s to purchase these 5 plants that will survive the winter so you can add that final touch in your Westover home.
