The Westover Companies participated in their 5th Annual ‘Lemonade Day’ to raise money for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation!
About Alex’s Lemonade Stand (ALSF)
Meet Alex – Alexandra Scott began this foundation by starting her own lemonade stand when she was only 4 years old. She was able to raise $1 million by the time of her death at only 8-year-old. Since then, she has left us with inspiration and hope that we will soon find a cure for childhood cancer.
Childhood Cancer – Every day, 700 or more children worldwide are diagnosed with childhood cancer. One in 285 children in the U.S will be diagnosed with cancer by the time they are 20 years old. Childhood cancer is also the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 19 in the U.S.
Lemonade Days
Hosting lemonade stands in order to raise money for pediatric cancer was started by Alex Scott. By starting her own lemonade stand fundraiser, she was able to inspire more than 60,000 Alex’s Lemonade Stands across the country and around the world. Lemonade Days was created so that volunteers everywhere can get together, and hold stands across the country.
Lemonade Days is a week long event in order to see the difference ALSF can make in just a short amount of time! Since Lemonade Days began in 2004, it increased to more than $14 million raised for childhood cancer research. The Westover Companies recognized the importance of participating in this event and had their own company wide ‘Lemonade Day’ to raise money for this great cause.
How Westover Made a Huge Impact
Lemonade Days – Fighting Childhood cancer, one cup at a time.
There is a way to help fight childhood cancer, and all you have to do is plan a lemonade stand, which is what the Westover Companies did.
This past June, the Westover Companies held its fifth annual company-wide charity event for Alex’s Lemonade Stand (ALSF). With the last two years being a “virtual” stand, we excited to be out and about again in order to raise awareness for ALSF.
How ALSF Used Funds That Were Raised
The donations that ALSF raises, will fund research that will bring more treatments to children with cancer. The ALSF also has a Grant Program that funds research from early stage all the way through lifesaving clinical trials for children with cancer.
How Much Did Westover Companies Communities Raise?!
With properties selling lemonade, we were able to raise a total of $21,353! With the company’s 100% match, the Westover Companies proudly donated a grand total of $42,706!
Westover couldn’t of have done this without our residents, employees, and local communities who donated to this incredible cause!
